We have been working globally with LED drivers and LED modules since 2014 both with LED luminaire manufacturers in the design of new fixtures and with lighting distributors for retrofits of conventional technologies to LED and we see now in 2024 an unprecedent volume of requests from maintenance technicians asking how to fix the LED lighting fixtures from the first generations that are starting to fail because they are reaching the end of their lifetime.

- Why isn't it just replacing a lamp or a transformer like before?

With the LED technology the new luminaires design got disrupted. The standard lamp of the past was turned into one or more LED modules (plates with impregnated LEDs) and the conventional transformer became an LED driver. Neither the LED modules or the LED drivers got standardized by the industry.

Each different LED luminaire was designed with LED modules combined and wired in particular ways and connected to a LED driver that has to be set or programmed to drive a specific electrical current so the sensible LEDs shine with light instead of burning dead.
